Welcome
We are a vibrant and friendly place of worship where we proclaim the full Word of God, through both our own and visiting anointed speakers. We allow the Holy Spirit to use us and move through us by His gifts. Our worship together is a joyful mixture of old and new hymns and songs.
We operate in an atmosphere of love and support for one another, just like in the early Church, and we are fully committed to reaching out to our members as well as to our local community and beyond.
It would be lovely to have you join us for our Sunday service, and for our weekly and monthly meetings. We would be glad to pray with you, to minister to you and to talk things over with you if you are in any need.
Come and join us as we meet together every Sunday at 11.00am.

"Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Isaiah 40:28-31
Our chapel
A place of Christian worship since 1853
Our chapel stands in William Street in Ryde. It was built as a Free Wesleyan preaching house by William Shakleton the elder, on land then known as Swanmore Close. The name Zion, taken from Jerusalem and found often in the Old Testament and the Psalms, was a common choice for chapels of that day.
Through all the years since, the chapel has remained a strong place of Christian activity and ministry, and a beacon for the local community and beyond. We are an evangelical, Spirit-filled church, standing on the true and full Word of God and open to what the Holy Spirit tells us and wants us to do.
In our Sunday service we combine the old and the new, more traditional hymns alongside newer Christian songs, to make a blend of traditional praise and joyful worship. The preaching is shared between our own elders and a number of visiting island ministers.

What we believe
The Bible
We believe the Bible as originally given, to be without error, to be the fully inspired and infallible word of God and its constant truth and validity through time. We believe the Bible to be the supreme and final authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
Trinity
We believe in one eternal God in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, co-equal and co-existing. We believe that these three persons are one God, sovereign in creation, provision and redemption.
Jesus Christ
We believe in the true and proper deity of Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth and sinless life, in His real and complete humanity, in His authoritative teaching, in His miracles, in His substitutionary and atoning sacrifice through His death on the cross. We believe in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, in His heavenly intercession and in His return in power and glory at the end of time.
The Holy Spirit
We believe in the deity of the Holy Spirit who is from the Father and the Son. We believe in the need of His work in conviction of sin, repentance, regeneration and sanctification. We also believe that the believer is empowered through the baptism of the Holy Spirit and the release of the gifts of the Holy Spirit for works of service.
Mankind
We believe in the universal sinfulness of all men since the fall, rendering man subject to God's wrath and condemnation.
Salvation
We believe in the need for salvation through repentance towards God and faith in Jesus Christ. We believe that the sinner is pardoned and accepted as righteous in God's sight. This justification is received as a consequence of the grace of God because of the atoning work of Jesus Christ; it is received by faith alone and is evidenced by the Fruit of the Spirit and a holy life.
The Church
We believe in the spiritual unity and priesthood of all believers in Christ, and that these include the universal church, the body of Christ.
The Ministry
We believe in the ministries that Christ has set in His church; namely, apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers. We believe in the present operation of the manifold Gifts of the Holy Spirit according to the New Testament.
